Kevin Lou · Real Estate

Buyer representation in Salt Lake County, built around negotiation.

I'm Kevin Lou. Licensed since 2015. Two business degrees from the University of Utah. Top of my master's class in negotiations. I help buyers win the home they want through creative negotiation — without pressure, games, or rushed choices.

Most agents have a license. That's the floor.

Here's what I bring that most agents in Salt Lake County don't.

i.

Licensed Realtor since 2015

A full decade of Salt Lake County market experience. I've worked through multiple market cycles, not just the easy ones.

ii.

Master's in Business Creation

University of Utah, David Eccles School of Business — ranked top 10 nationally for entrepreneurship (US News & World Report). Long-term financial and strategic thinking applied to every transaction. Most agents don't have a graduate degree. Fewer still have one focused on business strategy.

iii.

Top of class in negotiations training

Negotiation isn't a vibe or a sales tactic for me. It's a trained discipline. I studied it at the graduate level and finished at the top.

iv.

BS in Business Economics & Analytics

University of Utah. I read market data, not just headlines. When the news says "the market is shifting," I can tell you what's actually happening in your neighborhood, price range, and timeline.

v.

Primary focus on buyer representation

I represent sellers too, but most of my time, attention, and energy is built around buyers. You're not getting split focus.

vi.

Founder and operator

I run a national apparel brand alongside my real estate practice. I understand contracts, risk, and how deals actually get done from the operator's seat, not just the agent's.

Three things you'll notice from the first conversation.

i.
When you find the home you want, I'll help you win it.
Negotiation is the part of this work I take most seriously. I was top of my class in negotiations during my master's program. Most of real estate comes down to psychology, motivation, timing, and leverage — and creative negotiation isn't always about more money. It's about understanding what actually matters to the other side and structuring an offer that gives them what they need while protecting what matters most to you. When you find the house you want, my job is to do everything I can to win the deal within your financial means.
ii.
Your purchase gets my full attention.
I work with both buyers and sellers, but most of my experience and attention is built around buyer representation. First time buyers. Move up buyers. Families trying to make a smart long term decision. While other agents split their time across the listing side, I spend most of mine studying inventory, neighborhoods, and pricing behavior so I can give you a real read on whatever you're considering.
iii.
When the right house hits, we'll already be moving.
Timing matters in this market. I'm responsive, organized, and proactive throughout the process. You'll always know where we are, what comes next, and what I'm doing behind the scenes to keep things moving forward.

The home buying process is opaque for most people. It shouldn't be.

Here's the simple version of what working with me actually looks like.

01

We start with a real conversation.

No pressure, no pitch. I want to understand your situation, your goals, your timeline, and what you want your life to look like.

02

We get you with the right lender.

Pre-approval before anything else. I'll point you toward lenders who are responsive and won't waste your time.

03

We tour properties and I learn what you love.

As we walk through homes, I pay close attention to what you respond to — what you love, what doesn't work, what surprises you. That helps me find more of the right options faster, and stop wasting your time on the wrong ones.

04

We negotiate.

This is where my training and experience pay off the most. We structure a creative offer designed to win the deal within your means.

05

Once your offer is accepted, I walk you through every step in between.

Inspections, appraisal, financing milestones, contingencies, closing prep. I'll keep you on top of every deadline so nothing falls through the cracks.

06

We close.

You'll know what's happening at every stage. We stay in touch, and if you ever need anything after closing, I'm still here.

Three kinds of clients. One approach.

First Time Buyers

A lot of first time buyers feel intimidated. Mortgages, inspections, contracts, negotiations, timelines. Most people feel like everyone else understands it better than they do. I never want my clients to feel embarrassed asking questions or pressured into pretending they understand something they don't. We go through the process together, step by step.

Move Up Buyers

I also work heavily with buyers purchasing their second or third home. Most of these clients are less interested in sales tactics and more interested in having someone honest, responsive, and strategic who can help them make a smart move with less stress.

Sellers

I also represent sellers, especially past clients and people in my sphere who want someone they already trust to help them through the process.

I got into real estate in 2015 because I wanted control over my life.

I grew up around a lot of instability and never really had a roadmap for wealth, business ownership, or long term thinking. Real estate was one of the first industries I found where effort actually mattered.

I almost didn't graduate high school. Years later, I went back to school at 27 while working and eventually earned my degrees from the University of Utah. I know what it feels like to sit in a room and feel like everyone else understands something better than you do. I never want my clients to feel that way.

Outside of real estate, I'm married to my wife Trang, we have a daughter named Lexi, and our house is basically controlled by rescue dogs and kid schedules. I also founded Laketti, a premium performance apparel brand focused on craftsmanship and long term thinking.

A lot of my interests revolve around understanding how things are built — businesses, systems, products, markets. I've always cared more about quality, longevity, and doing things the right way than appearances or hype.

Real estate is one of the largest financial decisions most people will ever make, but a lot of the industry treats it like a volume business. I don't.

My job is to listen carefully, find homes that fit what you actually want, and use everything I've trained for to help you win the deal when you find one you love. Not to pressure you. Not to push you. Not to tell you what to think.

Salt Lake County has changed a lot over the last decade. The market moves fast, inventory is competitive, and buyers need someone in their corner who knows what they're doing. That's the role I take seriously.
